List of required courses
Total number of required clinical hours = minimum 500
Clinical experiences were attained as a means of meeting specific clinical Learning Objectives. Objectives were achieved by way of actual leadership clinical activities, which were pursued while shadowing a member of hospital leadership. Activities such as regular hospital leadership meetings, Risk Management meetings, Quality Improvement activities, and Nursing Research meeting were all part of my clinical experiences. At the close of the clinical hours, there was a self evaluation, leadership evaluation, and an instructor evaluation of those hours experienced. A summary was then completed to show how sufficiently each objective was met. This area of the curriculum was particularly beneficial for networking within my current healthcare organization. I was able to meet with current nursing leaders, openly discuss ideas, and ask introductory questions regarding contemporary leadership needs and initiatives. Due to the experiences during these hours, I will be even more resourceful and comfortable approaching members of leadership as a means of learning and building ongoing mentoring relationships.
