ABOUTÂ SARAH
Sarah has been employed by St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, MO since 1999. While working full time and raising a family, she earned her Professional Nursing degree in 2005. The majority of Sarah's nursing career has been spent working in the
Emergency Services department of a Level 1 trauma center, which is simultaneously a nationally recognized stroke center. In 2015, Sarah ventured out into the world of abdominal transplant, becoming a Liver Transplant Coordinator. In this role, she has been employed with educating and caring for patients with chronic and end-stage liver disease. Her primary role is to educate patients about the transplant evaluation process, and provide nursing care before, during, and after a liver transplant occurs. The responsibilities associated with this role naturally allow Sarah to form strong relationships with those patients she cares for, as well as ongoing professional networking across the multidisciplinary teams that also assist in caring for these patients. In her ongoing quest to improve patient-centered outcomes, Sarah made the decision to further advance her formal nursing education. In 2016, she was accepted and enrolled in University of Mary's (Bismarck, ND) graduate nursing program for
Nursing Leadership and Management, ultimately earning her
Master of Science in Nursing in April, 2018.
